Last week, Kooth came into our Academy to show our students how to stay safe online.
Many of our students use the internet on a daily basis, so we make sure they know what to do when it comes to online safety.
For more information on keeping your children safe online, we send out weekly updates from National Online Safety on our Facebook, Twitter and by text message!
Last week, our students had the opportunity to share their inventions and displays at our STEM Fair.
Over 40 parents attended to see the hard work our students have done!
All involved competed against each other for the best invention for each year.
Our students have been getting involved in this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight, 27 February to 12 March.
They’ve been designing badges and fundraising for a raffle.
Have a look at our Badge Competition Winners and runner-ups this year!
Well done to all of our students who got involved for helping promote Fairtrade!
Some of our Food Preparation and Nutrition students in Year 10 visited the Manchester College last week to experience the world of cooking and catering.
They met famous and talented chefs including Masterchef Finalist Exose Grant, who spoke about getting into the industry – it’s challenges and rewards.
Our staff and students were greeted with canopés and were shown demonstrations on cooking different dishes.
We hope this trip was a great opportunity for our students to have a taster session into the industry and perhaps inspire some interest as a possible career!

Last week, our Year 11 students completed their Food Preparation and Nutrition NEA.
It was a great opportunity to put their skills to work and create something that could be served in a real resteraunt.
The brief was:
A local café wants to update their menu to provide home-made nutritious dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Research, prepare and cook 3 dishes (and accompaniments, if appropriate) that demonstrate your technical skills, are innovative and appetising, and would meet the menu requirements.
This weekend 22 of our Year 10 GCSE Citizenship students went to London to visit the Houses of Parliament.
Our 10 Week challenge is for all Year 11s, designed to improve attendance, punctuality to school and to lessons.
Every week there is a new prize for one winner who has 100% Attendance for that week, no lates to school, no lates to lesson, no behaviour sanctions.
Check out the amazing prizes you can win!
